Standard 1: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
Project: Webquest
Course: ITEC 67438 Instructional Applications of the Internet
The purpose of this project was to develop a Webquest on a mathematics topic that would effectively engage students, present an interesting meaningful problem to solve, and provide relevant Web resources. The Webquest is designed for Algebra II or Precalculus students studying Rational Functions.
This project meets NETS-T standard 1, specifically 1b, "Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources" because students will use the Internet to explore and calculate the costs of owning a refrigerator over time.

Project: Internet Project
Course: ITEC 67438 Instructional Applications of the Internet
The purpose of this project was to develop an Internet project that includes resources, hyperlinks and some interactive elements. It was required that the site have at least five different pages linked together. The site was designed as a traditional Website and was created using GoogleSites. The site's content is instructional; it is designed to teach Algebra II or Precalculus students how to perform operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) with polynomials.
This project meets NETS-T standard 1, specifically 1c, "Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes" because the interactive quizzes encourage students to gauge and reflect their conceptual understanding of the material and the linked resources help students to clarify any conceptual gaps.

Project: Database Lesson
Course: ITEC 57430 Computer Applications in Education
The purpose of this project was to create an online database exploration. It is designed for 9th grade Algebra I and Social Studies students.
This project meets NETS-T standard 1, specifically 1b, "Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources" because students will research and reflect about healthcare disparities in America and present their findings.

Project: Educational Software Review and Flyer Assignment
Course: ITEC 57430 Computer Applications in Education
The purpose of this project was to analyze an educational software program to determine how it aligns with curriculum standards and its ideal use in the classroom, and to promote it with a visual design. It is designed as a persuasive flyer for other educators.
This project meets the NETS-T standard 1, specifically 1a, “Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness” because the educational and dynamic software, "The Geometer's Sketchpad" encourages interactive learning and creativity.
