Standard 2: Design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments.
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS·S.
Project: Instructional Design project
Course: ITEC 67403 Instructional Design
The purpose of this project was to design and develop a unit of instruction using a systematic Instructional Design Model. The ID model consisted of several elements, including a needs assessment, a goal
and instructional analysis, a learner and context analysis, a set of performance objectives, student assessments, a design document, a set of instructional materials, and a formative evaluation report. The unit is designed for Calculus students studying Related Rates.
This project meets the NETS-T standard 2, specifically 2c, "Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources" because the instructional unit, which is computer-based through the Microsoft program OneNote, is designed such that it is self-paced and utilizes indirect instruction and self-guided practice to accommodate each student's learning needs.

Project: Interactive 3D Learning Simulation (in Alice)
Course: ITEC 67435 Virtual Reality
The purpose of this project was to explore the use of virtual environments in education and develop a 3D Learning environment using the educational computer programming software, Alice. The project is intended to serve as professional development for middle school teachers (grades 6-8). The interactive virtual simulation allows teachers to practice identifying key characteristics of bullies and victims to intervene effectively.
This project meets NETS-T standard 2, specifically 2b, "Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress" because the dynamic and engaging interaction created by a 3D virtual world provides a customized and personalized learning environment.

If you would like to play the game, you will need to download and install Alice on your computer. Click the image below to learn more about Alice.
Project: Photoshop Assignments: Persuasive Poster & Business Card
Course: ITEC 57411 Designing Visuals for Instruction
The purpose of these projects was to create an informational flyer and professional business card using Adobe PhotoShop, while incorporating appropriate elements of visual design. While these are not instructional visuals per se, they demonstrate examples of what a student could create using PhotoShop.
This project meets NETS-T standard 2, specifically 2a, "Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity" because this assignment, which required the use of Adobe Photoshop, encouraged artistic creativity.
